Queer Music 101
DISCOVER EXCITING PROJECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES!
My name is Jake Bellissimo (they/them/Sie) – I’m an American musician and musicologist currently based in Berlin. In November, I will be teaching a intro workshop on queer musicology, deconstructing the phrase and looking at the last 100 years.
We’ll be taking a look at a selection of 20th century music movements, including the American “pansy craze”, Berlin’s vibrant cabaret scene of the 1920s, and early Chicago house music, among many others. No experience required! All theory concepts will be taught as we apply them, allowing learners of all backgrounds to follow along throughout the course.
The suggested fee for the workshop is 40-60 EUR for the 4 (2.5hr long) daytime classes on Saturdays (9/16/23/30) in November at Donau115, 13:00-15:30. If 40-60EUR is inaccessible, people are also encouraged to pay what they want.
Also: Don’t ever expect that people do things for you for free. When interacting with other people on PROPSLIST be open about your intentions, ask, negotiate fairly and respect a no.
