Do you dread the warmer times of the year, because people comment on your body all the time?
Do you sometimes want to intervene in situations that you find yourself in, but can’t find the right words/ don’t know what to do?
It can be hard to find a verbal comeback to catcalling or other forms of street harassment. Handing someone a card can be a good way to intervene, to break up the situation and slightly confuse the aggressor; you regain power, without having to stick around and give an explanation.
I tried to think about what I want to say every time I’m in a situation of street harassment and what I feel, and it’s not so easy because every situation is different. As a genderfucker weird person, I often have to deal with LGBTQphobia, sexism, classism, and other forms of discrimination created by other human’s stupidity in my life. In the street, everything is faster. I know that in these moments, I often have two sort of reactions (I stay quiet and ignore everything or I feel angry and want to answer!) So guess what I try to illustrate 😉
